Sleep

A song of lost love and lost sleep.
Now sleep won’t visit me
Despite my many calls
She leaves me all alone
To fight these restless hours
And when she finally comes
She seldom stays for long
Like an Angel in the night
A kiss and then she’s gone

Sleep, Sleep, Sleep

Perhaps my half full bed
Is the problem in my head
For when she slept beside me
Sleep would often find me
But now I cannot rest
For the loss of her warm breast
When I roll onto her side
The coldest steals my fire
Now the drink it sometimes works
But I never can be sure
If the bottle holds a symptom
Rather than a cure
All the remedies I have tried
All the magazines they just lied
So awake then I must stay
In darkness and in day

Now sleep won’t visit me
Despite my many calls
Like an Angel in the night
A kiss and then she’s gone
